Top 10 highlights from this week’s episode:
Make the time for what’s important in your life. When it comes to balancing work, hobbies, family, etc, it is very easy to get lost in the chaos. It’s important you make sure to give enough time to the important areas of your life.
Find what interests you and build accordingly. If you’re going to start working on a project of your own, make sure it’s something you’d want to do regardless of money, status, etc. Having a strong connection with your “why” will keep you going when things get tough.
Always strive to improve yourself. Some people make the mistake of learning a set of skills and pigeonholing themselves. Life is unpredictable, so it’s best if you take the time to learn a wide variety of skills so you’re valuable in many fields.
Change the way you consume content. Many people take in content from a consumer’s perspective, just absorbing it without much thought. Instead, take it in as a collector, looking to extract the hidden value in everything.
Learn to communicate and connect with others. It’s simple to say something to someone, but if you want them to really understand you, you have to learn how to articulate yourself and make genuine connections with the people you work with.
Don’t rest on your laurels, but also recognize your progress. Many people struggle with the extremes: they either get comfortable or never feel they’re doing enough. Learn to appreciate your accomplishments and see how far you’ve come as you start to set your next goal.
Chase your curiosity. Take the time to explore things that interest you. The more you learn, the more connections you can make when trying to solve problems and improve your skillset.
Establish a level of comfortability in conversations. When you're talking with someone, you want them to feel they can trust you. Moving too quickly will make this impossible, so take it slow, be genuine, and let them feel the connection.
Be resilient when times get tough. The reason the vast majority of people fail is because they didn’t stay in the game long enough. If you consistently do the right thing for long enough, you will be successful, so keep pushing.
Take the leap and see where you end up. There will be times when you’re presented with an opportunity and you’re unsure about what the outcome will be. The only way to know is to try. You could fail, sure, but you could also find a hidden passion that becomes your life’s mission to pursue.
